SELLERS HOMETOWN FANS PULLING FOR NNS ROOKIE IN RICHMOND

DANVILLE, Virginia — It’s what many in the Virginia area have been waiting for – local NASCAR Nationwide Series driver and hometown hero Peyton Sellers will run in one of Virginia’s biggest race weekends at Richmond International Raceway on Friday, April 1, 2009.

In 2005, Sellers won both the track championship and the Whelen All-American National Champion title from his home track in South Boston, Va. The area is no stranger to birthing NASCAR notables, including the Burtons and Sadlers. The drivers, including Sellers, even have grandstand sections of the South Boston track named in their honor.

After Sellers’ 2009 Nationwide Series debut at Texas Motor Speedway a few weeks ago, his local supporters have much to be excited about. Sellers posted an impressive 10th fastest practice time and easily qualified for the race, despite being forced to a backup car. He started 23rd and completed the race without incident in 26th place for the day.

Sellers will race in ten NASCAR Nationwide Series races this year with primary sponsor SFP, under the banner of newly formed Cardinal Motorsports. The name is appropriate given that the team’s owners are from North Carolina and Virginia, and the cardinal is state bird of both states.

Richmond, Charlotte and Dover are all on the team’s schedule in May. “We’re going into a busy month”, says Sellers. “We’re really fortunate to have a great sponsor and a great team, and we’re hoping to put on a good show for everybody on Friday night.” Nationwide Series drivers will practice, qualify, and race all on the same day.

Sellers will also be busy in the week leading up to the race, where he will make area appearances for SFP at four Southern States retail locations. Southern States, headquartered in Richmond, is a leading distributor for SFP products, AVAIL® and NutriSphere-N®.

Sellers will also appear at Richmond’s Hermitage Technical Center in conjunction with a local SkillsUSA student chapter. Sellers is a national spokesperson for the organization. Cardinal Motorsports is also sponsored by Jig-A-Loo USA and Bosch, both of whom are supporters of SkillsUSA.
