HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY TO PRESENT CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AND BODY ART THIS SATURDAY

The Havasu 95 Speedway, the most scenic quarter mile paved oval in the southwest located in beautiful Lake Havasu City-Arizona, will be officially wrapping up the last of their ASA sanctioned championship points races this Saturday. In addition to red hot ASA racing this particular evening will also have an artistic quality to it when the speedway's special events staff presents tattoo night. All of this family fun is being sponsored by the concrete masters from Campbell Redi-Mix.

In the ASA Street Stock ranks this is the night that Ralph Adams has been waiting for. The ageless wonder, who recently turned 69 years old, is lined up to accept the accolades that comes with being the division champion. Adams has been a model of consistency at the speedway this year and his seven feature wins has kept him on top of the standings all season long.

Nathan Hovdal has been holding down second in the standings all during the winter racing season and, barring any unfortunate racing luck, appears to have a lock on the position. But the real division battle Saturday will be who completes the top five in the final championship standings. John Lewis, Jim Carlo and Rick Maddox Jr are in a very close points race to see who lands in the third through fifth positions.

The ASA sanctioned Factory Stocks will also be resolving their division championship Saturday as well. Two time feature winner Jose Guevara has been on top of the standings all season long but you have to remember that this is Havasu style Factory Stock racing. Literally anything can happen during the course of one of these races and it often does. Scott Allen has been second in the standings nearly all season long. The tight points race could turn out to be who's going to finish third in the final rankings. "Jumbo" John Thorpe and Rick Zirges might be the two drivers to watch during this main event.

Also on the Havasu 95 Speedway's Saturday night schedule is an appearance by the Factory Stock Powder Puff division. Let's not turn this into a gender issue. Some of the ladies have proven in the past that they can hold their own with the men and even beat them to the checkers. That certainly applies to Lisa Snell who is a two time feature winner in the division. Also look for competitive runs from Sandy Nagel and Angie Dietch as well.

On the subject of division champions, the Havasu 95 Speedway would again like to congratulate their recent championship winning drivers. That includes Chris Gerchman-Modifieds, Tommy Kelley-Bandoleros and Austin Murphy winner of the Colorado River Late Model Series title.

As always the speedway's special events staff has created another innovative idea to add to the fun. It's Tattoo Night. Show your body art at the ticket booth and you will receive a $2 discount. Inked fans will also be eligible to participate in the tattoo contest during intermission.

The Havasu 95 Speedway race weekend actually begins on Friday night with a test and tune session for the teams from 6 to 9 pm. This practice session is free to spectators and a concession stand will be available.

On Saturday race day the spectator gates will open at 4 pm with the racing starting at 6 pm. General admission tickets are $12. Tickets for seniors, active military and the handicapped are priced at $10. Junior tickets, ages six to 16, are $6 while children five and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult. The speedway also offers a family package which admits two adults and two kids for $25. $25 will also get you a seat in the speedway's VIP section where fans will receive pizza and two free drinks. This section features the best seats in the house and advance reservations are highly recommended.

For out of town race teams and fans the Days Inn is the official motel of the Havasu 95 Speedway and offers its visitors beautiful and spacious rooms at very affordable rates. Call 928 855 7841 for reservations which can also be made on line.
