The Chowchilla Speedway will play host to a full crowd this Saturday night as part of the Chowchilla Fair. Race teams and track staff are excited to show off improvements to the facility as well as the driving ability that has created some of the finest racing the Valley has seen in a long while. The Grandstands are open for free to the public that pays to enter the Fair.
This is round two of the Two Track Challenge for the 4-Banger division. “We designed this six race series for our 4-Banger class so it would put them in front of big crowds on each of the six nights, three on the dirt at Chowchilla and three on the pavement at Madera. We are very excited with this class as we know this is where it all begins for a race driver, and we are happy to put them on a big stage to kick off their racing careers” Kenny Shepherd.
Pavement driver Miles Humphreys leads the points, with Grant Koontz, Paul Thornburn, Dawn Darter and Richard Hull rounding out the top five in the 4-Banger Two Track Challenge.
In the main event for the Fair races the Super Stock division will take the track for thirty ground pounding laps and the rivalry between Mitch Enos and Mike Shepherd will pick up where it left off on May 2nd. Darren Thomas, Shane Hausman, Steven Hannah, Roy Hart Jr. and Stuart Livingston have other plans for Shepherd and Enos, as they intend to present the huge crowd with a new winner in the Super Stock Class.
With just one repeat winner in the ultra competitive Hobby Stock Division in 2009, all eyes are on Shannon Porter to make it to victory lane in front of the Fair crowd. Shannon is second in the point’s battle, with Danny Roe leading. Mark Key is the only repeat winner and has a chance to go two in a row this week. Phil Vaughn is third and Shannon Marlow is fourth in the overall point’s battle.
The Valley Sportsman verses the Hard Tops put on such impressive racing on May 2nd, they have been added to the Fair race. Everyone is hoping Mark Odgers and Tim Prothro will go door to door once again to thrill the crowd with these great looking winged race cars.
Pit gates open at 3:00pm, heat race begin at 5:00pm with main events starting at 7:00pm.
