MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Late Model Lites get their first big race of the season Saturday at Meridian Speedway in the Blue Moon 75.
Meridian, Idaho, driver Kale Freedman owns a slim three-point lead over Middleton, Idaho's Jim Bailey after one race in the Late Model Lite season. April 25 main event winner Shaun Tubbs sits third with 74 points, eight behind Freedman.
In addition to the Late Model Lites feature, the local seasons for Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Legends and Hornets get under way after being postponed because of inclement weather two weeks ago.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $750 for military personnel with ID and senior citizens, and $6 for children ages 7-11. Children 6 and younger get in free.
The gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.

After last week's action, the ASA Modifieds have a new points leader, with Eagle, Idaho's Tom Hill taking over the top spot from Rus Ward of Boise, Idaho.
Although Meridian High School senior Wyatt King won last week's Non-winged Sprint season-opening feature, Johnny Giesler of Meridian has emerged with the early four-point lead over King.
Eddie Abels maintains his lead in the Mini Stocks points chase, but he's only 25 points ahead of fellow Meridian driver Ray Bolinger.
Another Meridian product, Andrew Clark, holds the early lead in both the Jr. Stingers and the Bandoleros.
As an American Speed Association-sanctioned track, Meridian Speedway is part of the ASA Member Track National Championship for the Modified division.
The goal of the ASA Short Track National Championship is to activate a measuring system that takes into account many variables, such as field size, inversion, wins and number of races in a season, and create a level playing field to determine who is the ‘best-of-the-best’ of the ASA Member Track Champions Nationwide.
The ASA Joe Gibbs Driven National Member Track Champion Award was designed to give the National Champion exposure with one of the top teams in racing – Joe Gibbs Racing. Joe Gibbs Driven Oil, a division of Joe Gibbs Racing, sells the actual oil products developed and used by Joe Gibbs Racing to racers at all levels. More information can be found at www.joegibbsdriven.com.
The ASA Member Track program is comprised of a network of short tracks around the United States, as well as a variety of regional and national touring series. For news and information from all the racetracks and tours involved in the American Speed Association, visit www.ASA-Racing.com.
