SLC, Utah — Rocky Mountain Raceways held their weekly ASA sanctioned Super Oval Series featuring high adrenaline racing and fun family entertainment.
Eric Rhead celebrated his first place Super Stock finish in the Rocky Mountain Raceways pit area with his family.
“It’s been a good night. Super Stocks has been a clean class and I am excited about this win,” said Rhead.
Brothers Cody and Zac Atkinson, of West Jordan, UT, also celebrated a win in the family. Cody Atkinson finished first in the Mini Cup race, while Zac finished second.
Mini Cups are half-scale replicas of the NASCAR Sprint Cup cars. They are small in size but drivers average about 70 MPH around the Rocky Mountain Raceways’ oval track.
“This race was awesome. It’s all about coming out here and having fun,” said Mini Car winner Cody Atkinson.
After a close side-by-side race Mark Ith, of West Jordan, UT, came out as the nights winner for the Maverik Modifeds class.
“I was shocked to win after such a close race. My goal is to win more races and place in the Maverik Modifieds Top 3 at the end of the year,” said Mark Ith.
Oval Classes that ran in the ASA sanctioned Super Oval weekly racing series included Mini Cups, Super Stocks, Focus Midgets, Maverik Modifieds and Young Automotive USAC Sprints.
The nights winners included Cody Atkinson (Mini Cups), Eric Rhead (Super Stocks), Kipp Posey (Focus Midgets), Mark Ith Jr. (Maverik Modifieds) and Mike Murguitio (Young Automotive USAC Sprint Cars)
In its thirteenth year, Rocky Mountain Raceways also hosts drag racing, motocross racing, monster trucks and drifting.
Rocky Mountain Raceways’ next events include the Jet Car Spring Nationals (May 23) and the Young Chevrolet 100 (May 25).
