POST FALLS, Idaho — Dave Garber (Spokane, WA) won the Inland Northwest Super Stock (INSSA) 100-lap main at Stateline Speedway on Saturday May 16. Shelby Thompson (Spokane, WA) finished 2nd followed by Jeff Fenton. The Hobby Stock winner of the 25-lap main was Treven Tarr (Spokane, WA). The Early Stocks had Justin Robideaux (Spokane, WA) winning their 25-lap main.
The 100-lap INSSA feature started with 13 cars taking the green on the high banked .25-mile oval. Andrew Zimmer (Spokane, WA) led until Garber took over. Thompson moved up to 2nd and closed in on Garber’s lead. The two went side by side for over 15 laps with Thompson on the inside and Garber outside. They swapped leads every lap. By lap 45 Thompson finally started to pull away from Garber.
Garber fell back to 3rd behind Fenton while Thompson opened a large lead. Thompson ran into trouble when he caught side by side cars for position at the tail end of the lead lap. They held Thompson up while Fenton and Garber gained on the leader. One of the two spun bringing out the yellow on lap 83. It was deemed by INSSA officials that there was contact by Thompson causing the spin. Penalized to the tail end of the lead lap cars Thompson was sent back to 5th.
The lead went to Garber as he was able to get by Fenton on lap 90. Thompson was able to move back to 2nd behind Garber at the finish.
The Hobby Stock main saw the leader Brycen Tarr (Spokane, WA) make hard contact with Jody Duncan (Athol, ID) forcing both out of the race. Brendan Tarr (Spokane, WA) took the lead on the ensuing restart. Brendan’s brother Treven Tarr passed for the final lead late in the 25-lap main. Billy Swift (Newman Lake, WA) finished 2nd after having to make a mid race pit stop. Brendan Tarr finished 3rd.
The Early Stocks feature, with an impressive field of 15 cars was all Robideaux. He moved his way around cars, at times three and four abreast to gain the lead early in the 25-lap main. Shawn Priest (Spokane, WA) settled for 2nd while Gill Rapp Jr survived to finish 3rd.
