The PCM Motorsports Inc. Super Late Model Team normally puts their main effort into driver Miles Copenhaver. But after breaking his arm and out for a few weeks, Ron Esau (Miles Consulting driver coach) is stepping in to keep the team efforts moving forward. With help from the PCM Motorsports Team, Ron decided to race all the “Lucas Slick Mist Super Six” Super Late Model special competition races.

PCM Motorsports driver Miles and his Dad Paul got on a plane and flew to North Carolina for the first week Miles could not race and spent some time with the east connections of Justin Lofton and Brian Ickler. They rode with Justin to the Kentucky Speedway for his test session there and used their minds like a dry sponge to soak up some new ideas and knowledge for helping their racing effort back home. After the test session, the PCM Motorsports team flew back to the west coast to meet up with Ron Esau’s crew (Kevin Clark and Ed Bernardo) and start putting their new knowledge to work with testing at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Driver Ron Esau says, “They learned a lot from being with Justin (Lofton) and Brian (Ickler) and it’s paying off!” Ron has been running a little better the past couple of races and says, “It’s all in the little details that Paul has brought back from the east coast connections”.

Results are looking good so far with Ron finishing 9th and 11th for the first time back at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. This past Saturday night Ron had the PCM crew (one armed Miles, Brother Brett, Dad Paul, Ed Bernardo and Dave Reed of Approved Memory spotting) for support and got is best finish of the year, 5th place plus the “hard charger award”. Ron moved from 15th to 7th in the Slick Mist point standings.

It didn’t look like Ron was going to make it to the race on May 16th because crew chief Kevin Clark’s dad (Mel Clark) had a pace maker installed by his doctors on Sunday May 10th. Plus Ron’s dad (west coast racing pioneer George Esau) had open heart surgery on Tuesday, May 12th. Both Dad’s are tough guys and were doing better by Thursday night when Ron and Ed loaded the car and ask the PCM Crew to help test more on Friday night.

Ron would like the thank Ed Bernardo of BCRI Inc, Kevin Clark, Dave Reed of Approved Memory, Ringer Gloves, Action Sports.com, Joiner Motorsports, Esau Supply Co. (Doors and Windows and Cabinetry) and the Entire PCM Motorsports Crew.

In further PCM Motorsports news:

Miles is going to test his Late Model later this week and is hoping to be able to race on Saturday night with Ron back in his coaching position. Miles “Pistonhead” and Rapid Ron are also going back to the east coast from July 14th thru July 18th to watch and learn more from Brian Ickler and Justin Lofton. Justin and Brian are entered in the ARCA race at the Kentucky Speedway. Also Brian will be running the Camping World Truck race there as well. Miles and Ron are flying into Charlotte, NC for a couple of days then traveling with the team for the Kentucky Speedway events.
