Travis Bennett, driver for the Ferrari - Carsaro racing team, is preparing for the NASCAR Camping World West race this weekend in Roseburg, Oregon.
Bennett will be making his third start in a Camping World event. The young racer from Ellensburg, Washington is returning to a facility that he has had good success at, in the past. In 2007, he won the open comp, 150 lap race at Roseburg, in a Tour car owned by Don Schriver.
Bennett has competed locally and around the Northwest for many years with success. Moving up to the NASCAR Camping World is a dream that he did not think could ever come true. Bennett said, “I am so extremely fortunate to have this great opportunity. Many different people have come together in my racing career to help me. Don Schriver started my career when he put me in the seat of his Tour car. Gary Collins, from Bakersfield, introduced me to Gary Richardson and Bob Carsaro. Dick Midgley, from Canada allowed me to run his West car at Monroe in 2007, when he had the opportunity to put another driver in the seat that would have made a much better financial situation for himself”. He goes on to say, “ I am so thankful to everyone that has helped me. I have a great support team behind me. My brother and crew chief, Chad, my business partner in Short Track Enterprises, Zach Neissner, and a combination of crew that stretches from Seattle to Bakersfield”.
The assembled team has hopes to race most, if not all, of the Camping World West events this year. They will compete on the ovals in the Carsaro owned equipment and on the road course events in the Midgley cars.
Going into this weekends race, the team is coming off a big win at Monroe last Saturday. Travis drove the Darin Stordahl owned, NASCAR Super Late Model, to a convincing victory on the big 5/8’s oval.
Sponsors for the #44 NASCAR Camping World West car include, GrapeKing, Giumarra Vineyards, and Rick-Pak Motorsports.
