Spec Sprint Cars, NCMA, Super Stocks and Hobby Stocks Role Back into Chowchilla Speedway
June is here and the Chowchilla Speedway has seen more than 200 different drivers compete so far during the 2009 season, 212 drivers is the exact count. The fans have given a thumbs up to the racing formula being used by the speedway as well. So with happy fans and the best drivers in the territory the Chowchilla Speedway charges into the Summer Months looking for great things to come.
“We believe in the formula of less is more, meaning give the drivers designed breaks at key points in the racing season. Combine this with the throw out formula and it has created better racing and very strong car counts and ultimately a much better show for our fans.” Kenny Shepherd.
June kicks off with some of the best racing divisions when it comes to close action. The Spec Sprints verses the NCMA, the Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and 4-Bangers will all compete in the June 6th event. Then throw in the bone crushing blows of the Destruction Derby and we kick off the Summer Months with a bang .
The anticipation is high as for the quality of racing that will be provided by the Spec Sprints verses the NCMA. The rivalry between Super Stock point leader Mike Shepherd and second place Mitch Enos is sure to please the fans once again. Third through seventh in the points are Donnie Shearer, Roy Hart Jr., Steven Hannah, George Lefler and Shane Hauseman, and each of these drivers intend to join the fight between Shepherd and Enos.
The battle in the Hobby Stocks is one of Ladies verses Gentleman with three of the top five in the points being the ladies. Shannon Porter is the front runner for the ladies and was just inches from a win during the last race at Chowchilla Speedway. Danny Roe is holding up the men’s side of the deal as he is the point leader, but he would only win by three slim points if the championship ended today. The top five in the point battle are Danny Roe, Shannon Porter, Shannon Marlow, Phil Vaughn, and Stacey Marlow.
In the 4- Banger division Kathy Evans has a nice point lead but she is being chased by a hard charging Paul Thornburn, and Thornburn has found is winning ways so this battle will tighten as the season continues. The top five in the points are Evans, Thornburn, Miles Humphreys, Marisa Odgers and Steve Johnson.
The Chowchilla Speedway will continue its assault on the Movie Theatre with adults tickets priced at just $7.00 for this show, that’s right Sprint Cars and Stock cars for just a $7.00 adult ticket!
