AURORA, Oregon — Jim Warn from Aurora, Oregon and driver of the GPI Performance.com Chevrolet in the NASCAR Camping World Series-West returns to his home state this weekend looking to start a streak of finishes much like last year. Warn finished 8th last season at Douglas County Speedway located in Roseburg, Oregon and went on to record three straight top ten performances.

“We have a lot of momentum heading into Douglas County this weekend,” Warn said. “We had a really good run in Iowa and to come home and race in front of family and friends is going to be great.”
Coming from a big wide-open track to a small tight oval takes a lot of adjustments. Not just the car, but the mindset. “Douglas County is a completely different kind of track,” Warn continued. “It is really tight and you always seem to be tucked up underneath another car so you don’t have the time to set guys up. It is a real waiting game to find the hole and opportunity you need to get by another car and keep your car in one piece.”
Warn will be driving the same car he used at Madera last month and is banking on a top result. “We had a great car at Madera,” Warn said. “We were fast but had an overheating issue. We are using a similar set up and after the success I have had here in the past in both the West cars and Late Model cars, I feel confident that we will have another strong run.”
Douglas County Speedway may not be Iowa but it is a great place to race. “The fans in Roseburg are just awesome. We signed autographs last year for more than an hour and they still kept coming. I look forward to the race this weekend and all the festivities at the track.”
Warn is currently in the 11th position in the point standings after five races just one point out of tenth and 138 points out of the fifth position. Last season Warn had three straight top ten performances that started at Douglas County. “If we can have the kind of run we did last year we will come out of Douglas County in great shape.”

The car is powered by a Chevrolet NASCAR Spec Engine built by Brad “Freight Train” Peters and sits atop a Hopkins chassis. Warn is in his second year of competition in the NCWS with five top ten finishes in 18 career NCWS starts.
The Toyota/Bi-Mart “150” presented by NAPA Auto Parts at Douglas County Speedway is round six of the 13-race NASCAR Camping World Series-West schedule for 2009. The race will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on SPEED Channel Thursday, June 18 at noon PT.
