TANNER READY FOR YAKIMA

PORTLAND, Oregon — The 19 year old Joey Tanner sets his sighst on the goal ahead for this weekend for the Iracing.com ASA Northwest Tour race in Yakima, which is to bring home his first tour win of his young carreer.

Coming off his best run of the year In Ronan, Mont. with a win in the Limited Latemodel race, and a 6th place finish in the Cory Wolfe 125, Tanner is ready to bring the heat. The Port City Chassis rookie of the year point leader for the tour has had his run of bad luck this year, but is anxious to get to victory lane this weekend in the Better-All Auto Sales 125 at Yakima Speedway.

"In Ronan two weeks ago we had a car to beat," Tanner says. "The crew gave me a great handling car and we were running 3rd saving our equipment, when a tangle up occured on lap 125 that made me come to the pits and loose a lap."

The rookie to asphalt racing in 2009 has made great strides in his first three starts for the tour, and when asked about the weekend ahead the youngster shows much enthusiasm and confidence. " Yakima can just about be called me home track for asphalt racing. This is the track I grew up watching my dad Jody Tanner race on, and the only track on the Northwest that i have more than 1 start on. I enjoy racing at Yakima and having BJ Tidrick with me I am confident we will have a good run."

The only two starts for Tanner at Yakima Speedway came in the 2006 Fall Classic, and the latest Apple Cup in April, where the rookie recorded a top 5 finish. In the two races Tanner has competed in at the famed 1/2 mile he has recored a top 7 finish in both which means the Portland, Or driver knows his way around the track.

Tanner now sits 8th in the season points, and on top of the Port City Rookie of The Year points after 3 races. When asked about his thoughts on the season ahead, Tanner replied, " We are not really points racing anymore at this point. Sure I am focused on the rookie of the year award, but from here on out we are coming to win and nothing else. Hopefully the bad luck is behind us and the team and I can focus on getting the #36 car to victory lane!"
