POINTS RACES HEAT UP AS SUMMER APPROACHES AT STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAY

Come on out to the New Stockton 99 Speedway this Saturday, June 13th as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Western Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, ALSC/Street Stocks, Bombers and Mini-Stock/Mini-Trucks continue their bids for the 2009 Championships. Summer is quickly approaching and the Points races in all divisions are heating up. Also, we will have some special guests this weekend from the Mini-Cup and Baby Grand Divisions. Join Drivers Patrick Hill, Taylor Hill, Michael Sandoval and Michael Ray at the top of the hill for autographs and pictures.

In the Western Late Model Division Points Leader Vito Ranuio continues to hold onto a slim 18 points over second place Justin Philpott and the two just can?t seem to stay away from each other on the race track. But isn?t that the way it?s supposed to be when you have two guys fighting for the same real estate and for that coveted trophy at year?s end? Rivalries sure make for great stories and even greater racing. This weekend don?t blink as anything can happen in an instant?s width and you definitely do not want to have to depend on secondhand news if you miss out on any of the action. Ranuio may need to regain his composure a bit after a rough week of racing, but other than that, look for some great door to door, wheel to wheel battles with the return of ?Young Guns? Nick Belletto and sixteen year old driving sensation Jacob Gomes. The elder Belletto?s are also expected back at the track so you won?t want to be absent from this one.

The Grand American Modifieds return for their second week in a row. Sitting atop the field in this division, ?Young Gun? Michael Ostrowski was looking much more like a wily veteran last week at the head of the pack until an unfortunate incident would relegate him to an eighth place finish 16 laps down. Larry Tankersley continues to hold on to that second spot 21 points back, but third in points, Scott Winters is charging hard toward the top of the charts. The intensity in this division continues to grow and this weekend should be no different. Modified sensation Jason Philpot put down a phenomenal lap of 13.734 to set a new track record. The majority believes this to be just the tip of the iceberg as far as records go.

In the ALSC/Street Stock Division Points Leader Jeff Ahl did himself a huge favor last Saturday by winning their 99 lap, double-point feature in a convincing manner. Meanwhile, Aaron Coonfield finds himself sitting 27 points behind in that second spot on the leader board with Pete Anderson Sr rounding out the top three, another 30 points back. If things go as per usual, we should see more great racing this week. Once again, records fell in this division as Sammy Solari bested his own ALSC record set two weeks ago, this time with a ridiculous lap of 14.855 on the quick quarter-mile. Also, Anderson Sr laid down a lap of 15.019 setting a new track record in the Street Stocks.

Ben Lewis received a wake-up call last week as Tom Dahl came knocking at the door. For the first time in seven weeks, Lewis did not have an answer and Dahl marched straight through, wire to wire, ending the six race win streak of Lewis. This week hopes are high Russell Johnson will get in the mix as well so we might see some fantastic skirmishes for the top spot.

Pit Gates open and registration begins at noon with practice commencing at 2:30 PM. The Grandstands open at 3:00 PM with qualifying set for 4:30 PM and green flag racing slated for 6:00 PM. Ticket prices for the evening will be as follows:

Don?t forget June 12th as 99 Drift hits the high-banks at Stockton once again. If you haven?t seen what these young men can do in a car yet, come check it out, you won?t be sorry you did. They need all the support they can get, so bring the young ones and enjoy. General Admission is always $10.

Due to extenuating circumstances, the Poker Run originally slated for June 13th has been postponed to a later date to be announced.
