MODIFIEDS MARCH TO CHALLENGE AT SKAGIT

ALGER, Washington — Fans attending Skagit Speedway this Saturday will have a new style of racing to see at the annual Tune-up to Dirt Cup event. Modifieds from around the Northwest region will take to the track for a special Modified Challenge exhibition race.

Popular across the Midwest, Modifieds have gained a reputation as fierce racing machines with intimidating wedge shaped bodies, open wheeled noses and unbridled horsepower.

With a raw style of racing featured weekly at dirt tracks in Oregon, nearby Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma and Central Washington Speedway in Yakima, fans will be in for a unique style of racing according to Skagit Speedway Promoter Steve Beitler.

"These cars are cool; we are excited and thankful to the drivers for racing this event." Beitler said. "This will give our fans something new to look at, and will give us an opportunity to see how Modifieds could work as a possible division at Skagit in the future."

Modifieds will join the Foothills Toyota Tundra Series Hornets and Sportsman Sprint divisions at the event that is a prelude to the prestigious Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup, June 18-20.

Competitors in the 410 Division will be on the racing card in Dirt Cup trim making final preparations for the event that will pay the winning team $25,000 from a $150,000 purse. Events start at 7pm with opening ceremonies.

Adult admission is $13; kids under six are free.

Reserved seats for three-day Dirt Cup weekend presented by Van's Equipment are available by calling 360-724-3567 or at the ticket office on race night.
