With Mother Nature hinting at rain all evening, the storm finally arrived at the very end of Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal drag racing and cancelling the subsequent Tint and Accessories Midnight Drags.
“We were fortunate we were able to get all the way through a couple of the classes but unfortunately we were unable to finish the rest,” said Ron Craft, Drag Manager at Rocky Mountain Raceways.
RMR was able to award trophies in the Wide Open Performance Diesel and High School classes but the rain stopped them from completing the Sport Compact, Heavy, Trucks, Motorcycle, Teen Championship Racing and Junior Dragster classes.
Winners in the two competed classes included Zach Fuller of Grantsville, Utah in the Wide Open Performance Diesel class and Chantell Nielsen of West Valley City, Utah in the High School class.
Many were disappointed to see the rain as a large crowd showed up for the Tint and Accessories Midnight Drags that was to be run immediately following the Street Legal races.
“We were sad to see the rain come with so many spectators and racers here for the Midnight Drags,” Craft said.
The next Street Legal and Midnight Drag races are scheduled for June 10.
Other Rocky Mountain Raceways’ upcoming events include the ASA sanctioned RMR Super Oval race (June 13), Summit Super Series ET drag race (June 19) and Plaza Cycle Motocross Park race (June 19).
