Borneman Motorsports is sitting 4th in the NASCAR Winston West Series points standings after a very tough race at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield (Calif.).
At the start of the year the Borneman Motorsports team were looking at the schedule with three short tracks in a row. The team knew it would be a grueling schedule, but with the triple short-track run behind them, the team could not be more pleased. They have scored a win and are holding firm in the points, only two points out of 3rd.
Said a very elated Johnny Borneman III; “Our short track car is still in one piece we are thrilled to be in this position. My team did a great job at Mesa Marin Raceway. We broke a motor at the start of practice and almost missed qualifying. Jim Romo is my chief mechanic and after changing motors Jim always makes sure the car is safe to race before we go back out."
Borneman was caught on pit row with a flat tire, putting him a lap down. It was decided after the loss of position that the best thing was just to try and bring the car home in one piece and that he did!
The team will be testing at the prestigious California Speedway in Fontana in April. They will be bringing a new car and a brand new speedway motor.
"We had Gary Meiers at Premonition Engines build us a motor just for the big tracks" said John Borneman. "So we are looking forward to the test".
The next event will be at California Speedway April 28.
The NASCAR Winston West race at Mesa Marin will be televised on a tape-delay basis on Fox SportsNET in May. For more information Borneman![]()
