Tony Schmidt, car #49 and his Crew Chief, Bob Hustler are hard at work preparing for the Mesa Marin Raceway "FoodCo 200" at Bakersfield, CA on March 18, 2001. Heran an excellent race, qualifying 11th and working his way to 4th. He ran in the 4th position for about 50 laps.
The race had several cautions and on lap 102 a yellow flag allowed everyone to pit. Tony was running in 7th position at this time. He took on 4 tires and fuel, the car and driver were performing well. After the race resumed, Tony managed to gain several positions; putting him in 4th until an accident on lap 179 forced him out of the race. Tony is looking forward to competing in Fontana at the end of April.
