RIVERSIDE, California — David Cardey made his first ever trip to Petaluma Speedway a memorable one as he swept last Saturday night’s show by posting the fast time in qualifying, winning his heat and the 30 lap Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series main event. In doing so, Cardey increased his point lead in the six-year-old series.

Coming off a third place finish the previous week at Santa Maria Speedway, Cardey was unstoppable on the 3/8th of a mile Petaluma clay oval. Piloting his familiar ITI Performance Motorsports Viper Chassis/ITI powered #38, the Riverside, California resident turned a 14.616 lap to best the 29 car field in qualifying. It was Cardey’s first fast time of the 2009 campaign.

The popular driver, who goes by the moniker of “Dynamite,” outdistanced the field in the first 10-lap heat race. He began the main on the outside of row four. The veteran star worked his way to the front and took the lead on lap 17 and led the final 13 circuits on the cold Northern California night for his second Lucas Oil USAC/CRA main event win of 2009. The victory was his sixth straight top five finish (complete list at the end of this release). The last time he finished outside the top five was February 28th.

In posting the victory, Cardey became the first driver to capture more than one main event in 2009 USAC/CRA competition. His other win came on April 25th at Perris Auto Speedway. Incidentally, Saturday’s triumph was Cardey’s fifth all time with USAC/CRA.

Cardey came into Saturday’s race with a 22-point lead in the championship point standings. By the time the final checkered flag flew, he had increased that advantage to 33 points.

The USAC/CRA Series takes this week off before returning to action on July 4th at Perris Auto Speedway.

David would like to welcome and thank brand new sponsor Kal-Gard Lubricants for joining the #38 team. In addition to Kal-Gard, he wants to thank ITI Motorsports, Empire Plumbing, Circle Track Racing, Racer’s Pub, Powell Pipe & Supply, Eibach Springs, Hoosier Tires, and Scott Daloisio Sport for being a part of his 2009 racing effort.
