GRIDLEY, California — Gridley racer Quintin Crye appeared in support of Doug LaMalfa and his 2010 campaign for State Senate last Wednesday evening across the street from the State Capitol in Sacramento.
LaMalfa is running to represent the twelve county Fourth State Senate District next year. LaMalfa, a former northstate Assemblymember, is a farmer in Butte County.
The past three years, LaMalfa has hosted the annual NASCAR Day at the Capitol festival preceding the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ only stop in Northern California at Sears Point and is a staunch supporter of motorsports.
Crye appeared along with crew chief Robert Snow and marketing director Steven Blakesley. LaMalfa entertained guests with a Ford road racing Late Model owned by John Nolind of Pioneer Auto Body located in Oroville.
Passers-by joined supporters of LaMalfa looking in and around the race car. LaMalfa also wowed the crowd by firing up the car on two occasions, allowing the 550 horsepower engine to roar throughout the Capitol mall.
Crye is a 21 year-old racer primarily competing in NASCAR events at Roseville’s All American Speedway throughout 2009. He is of Cherokee Indian descent and proud to support LaMalfa’s campaign.
