AT SANTA MARIA SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY

SANTA MARIA, California —

*After a three year absence, Santa Maria Speedway is proud to bring Golden State Challenge 410 Winged Sprint Cars back to the 1/3-mile oval Saturday night. They will be joined by Papich Construction IMCA Modifieds, and Toste Grading & Paving Mini Stocks for the 1st Annual Doug Fort Memorial.

*On hand for the big event will be celebrity pit announcer Brett Wagner, known as the "Big Schwag". Wagner is known as being the voice of Monster Garage and is the current host of the Speed Network Drag Race Show "Pass Time".

*We will also have a special guest in attendance for the event. Christian Arriaga known as "Body Drop" on Jesse James' Monster Garage, will be hanging with the crowd and checking out the GSC Winged Sprint Cars.

*And, as an added attraction, there will be a "Wheelie Contest" for the sprinters with $500.00 going to the winner, $300.00 to second place and $200.00 to third place, courtesy of the Speedway and Angello's ATV Rental.

*On track Jonathan Allard, of Chico, will be trying to stretch his 7 point advantage over one of the best in the business, Brent Kaeding of Campbell, in the GSC title chase. Tyler Walker, of Los Angeles, is also in the battle for the point lead, trailing Allard by only 12. Fourth place Evan Suggs, of Scotts Valley, is 123 points out of the lead and fifth place Kyle Larsen, of Elk Grove, trails by 147.

*Arroyo Grande's Chad Weber clings to a 12 point bulge over Doug Thornton and a 20 point edge over another Santa Maria driver Danny Lauer, who scored his first main event win of the season last Saturday night, in the Modified division. Rounding out the top-five are Arroyo Grande's Tony Toste (-23) and Santa Maria's Josh Vogt (-28).

*Tom Grzincic, of Atascadero, has stretched his lead over Nipomo's Jeremy Heroux to 41 markers, after his fifth feature victory of the season June 27, in the Mini Stock class. Third place Rob Gilbertson, of Santa Maria, is a point behind Heroux. Completing the top-five are Nipomo's Kurt Larsen (-81) and Santa Barbara's Ben Caswell (-94).
