CHOWCHILLA, California — If you are a dirt track racing fan then this Saturday night is the Holy Grail of racing as the Chowchilla Speedway will host the top three forms of racing offered on the clay today, Winged Sprint Cars, Non Winged Sprint Cars and the Super Late Models. These are all 700 to 800 horsepower ground pounding monsters!
The last visit the 360 winged sprint cars made to Chowtown was in May and Tommy Tarlton showed the way with several of Northern California’s top sprint car driver right on his tail. This trip could prove to be different as many changes have been made to the track and several new competitors will make their first appearance of the season at the newly configured race track.
The Bandit non winged sprint cars will make their first appearance at the Chowchilla Speedway (somehow it is getting the nickname Chowtown?) and when this group of top drivers hits the gas pedal fans will be thrilled with their hammer down style of open wheel racing as this is one of the hottest groups when it comes to big horse powered, wide open, close contact dirt track racing.
As if the injected 360 winged and non winged sprint cars are not enough the speedway management has decided to throw in the top dirt late model tour in the Western United States, that’s right the Western All Stars Super Dirt Late Model are back with their 800 horsepower ground pounding door to door racing. Come out and see the top late model drivers in the West like Hogge, Shannon, Johnson, Bartels, Sanders, Papenhausen, Decker, and local star Alex Stanford.
The Spec Sprint non winged cars featuring tomorrows sprint car stars are also on the schedule for this great night of racing.
