Salt Lake City, Utah -- Mike Murgoitio impressed the fans at Rocky Mountain Raceways Saturday as he won another Young Automotive Group/USAC Sprint car race.
"I was really wanting to win this one after what happened two weeks ago"— Mike Murgoitio
Murgoitio of Meridian, Idaho was impressed with how his car ran too.
“The car was feeling nice all night. My crew did a great job. I was really wanting to win this one after what happened two weeks ago,” he said
His number 80 car took sixth place two weeks ago after a shifter plate broke and his crew had to tie it together with some wire. Murgoitio, who is currently the points leader in the Sprint car class, has won three of the five races that have been run for the 2009 season.
Other classes that ran in the Super Oval ASA Weekly Racing Series included Super Stocks, Mini Cups, Legends and Hornets.
In addition to Murgoitio, other winners for the night include Kirk Dye (Super Stocks), Zac Atkinson (Mini Cups), Brandon Snow (Legends) and Mike Thiemig (Hornets).
In its thirteenth year, Rocky Mountain Raceways also hosts drag racing, motocross racing, monster trucks and drifting.
Rocky Mountain Raceways’ next events include the Street Legal Series (July 17), the Tint & Accessories Midnight Drags (July 17) and the Super Oval ASA Weekly Racing Series (July 18).
