MORRISON, Colorado — Justin Lamb claimed his fifth NHRA national event victory when he beat Tim Nicholson in the Super Stock category finals of the Mopar Mile High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway. Lamb and three other drivers racing on Goodyear rubber took wins here.
The other Goodyear winners came in the NHRA’s Full Throttle Drag Racing Series for professionals. They were Antron Brown (in Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car) and Allen Johnson (Pro Stock).
Lamb’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series sportsman win came on Goodyear’s D4209 drag radial tire, which is new to competition this season. The D4209 measures 31 inches tall and 13.5 inches across the tread. It mounts on a 15-inch rim and is equipped with Goodyear’s D4A tread compound.

Brown’s victory in the final round came against Doug Kalitta. Brown leads the Top Fuel standings. Larry Dixon is second in the standings, 116 points back.
Capps beat Ashley Force Hood in the Funny Car finals, earning his fifth win this season and his 30th career victory. But the win only tied Capps with Force Hood for the lead in the championship effort because Force Hood has been remarkably consistent this season, reaching the final round six times.
Johnson edged Jason Line in the Pro Stock finals in a tremendous race. The margin of victory was just .0181 of a second. It was the second win of the season for Johnson and the third time in as many years he has reached the finals at Bandimere. Jeg Coughlin still leads the Pro Stock championship standings.
