The “SPEARS MANUFACTURING 100” at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale will mark the half-way point of the 2009 SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship season.
Saturday’s race is the first of two appearances by the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series at Toyota Speedway in 2009. The SRL will be part of an open practice from 4:30pm to 9:00pm on Friday, July 17th. Racing on Saturday, begins at 7:00pm, featuring Vista Paint Super Stocks, Justice Brothers Mini Stocks, and Classic Stocks with the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series headlining the evening with the “SPEARS MANUFACTURING 100”.
After four of ten SPEARS Southwest Tour Series events, Kanke leads the SRL championship with 208 entering Saturday’s event. Greg Voigt is second with 166, Dave Byrd is third with 161, Jim Pettit is fourth in the standings with 155, Craig Raudman is fifth at 147, Todd Bammer 142, Kevin Callahan 140, Josh Combs 124, Joe Farre’ 122 and Brennan Newberry rounding out the top ten in the championship standings with 120 points.
NOTES OF INTEREST:
• M.K. Kanke has won three of four Spears Southwest Tour Series events in 2009.
• Greg Voigt, who is second in SRL point standings, was the 2000 Toyota Speedway NASCAR Super Late Model champion.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. The King Taco fan appreciation autograph session is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. with drivers, crews and race cars on the oval track. SRL qualifying begins at 7 p.m. followed by the first feature race of the evening.
