STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAY PRESENTS USG NIGHT AT THE RACES

THIS SATURDAY, July — 25th, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series will continue its season as they come down the home stretch with Race #16. On the docket for the evening will be the Western Late Models, ALSC/Street Stocks, Bombers and for their third consecutive week, the Mini-Stocks/Mini-Trucks will be on hand to provide some great racing for the fans in the stands. And, also on the docket for the event will be 99 Cent Hot Dogs All Night Long.

Last week, with blistering temperatures smothering the entire central valley, the Western Late Models were a few cars shy of a full-field which enabled third generation driver and Points Leader Justin Philpott of Tracy to extend his already comfortable lead to 140 points over second place runner, Vito Ranuio of Stockton. Sitting another 52 points off the pace, Two-Time Track Champion David Philpott, also of Tracy, holds down that number three spot. Although the car-count was low last week, that isn’t to say the racing wasn’t good, because it was. This week, the Speedway expects more cars, which in turn, produces tighter, more dramatic racing for the deserving fans that seem to show up each week in droves.

In the ALSC/Street Stock Division, Aaron Coonfield of Rivebank continues to help his cause toward a Championship by winning races. Last week he shaved another two points off Points Leader Jeff Ahl’s 34 point lead. With only eight races left on the season, this points battle is getting tight. Pete Anderson Sr. sits in third another 39 points back. But Anderson can never be counted out until the final round is run. Look for some unequaled excitement again this week as these boys hit the racing surface for some fast and furious pleasure of their own.

The Bombers return after stepping aside for a week so the Enduros might have their time under the lights. Ben Lewis II still sits atop the charts with a 64 point lead over second place Russell Johnson Jr., also of Stockton. And yet another 64 points back, Mike Massone dwells in the third spot. These guys are going to have to step it up a couple notches if their plans are to catch Lewis, which will make for some great racing from this point forward.

This will be the third consecutive week for the Mini-Stocks/Mini-Trucks to rumble onto the asphalt. If the car-counts in this Division can ever maintain some semblance of stability, there will be nothing but great racing in store for all to enjoy. These drivers race their hearts out and they deserve some support. By showing up last week, Rodney Oliver inherited the Points Lead and sits 48 points ahead of second place Jim Morgan. Another 7 points back, Terry Shannon holds down that third spot. The one thing you can always count on in this Division is diversity.
