  • Garrett Evans started his 2000 season championship run with a fourth-place finish at Evergreen Speedway in the season opener. He would claim the title by one point over Gary Lewis, the closest finish in series history. Evans also claimed the title by three points over Dan Press in 1994.

  • Competitors on the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series, NASCAR Touring, will have only one tire to choose from this season. Goodyear Tires will be the sole supplier for tires this year.

  • Although he came up short in his title run last year, Gary Lewis did lead the series in wins (6), Bud Pole Awards (10), and money won ($58,384).

  • Look for three-time series champion Ron Eaton to make a run for the championship this year. In the past few years, Eaton has skipped the season opener to take himself out of the title run. He is entered in this year's Evergreen 125. Eaton will attempt to catch Garrett Evans for the most championships in series history with four.

STAT OF THE WEEK:

  • Pontiac and Chevrolet have dominated the races at Evergreen Speedway. Each
