MIKE JOHNSON WINS AUTO CLUB LATE MODELS AT IRWINDALE

Legends Cars

Brandon Toy of Bakersfield took over the lead from Ryan Reed on lap 34 for the second time in the race and hung on to win the 35-lap Legends Cars feature race Saturday night (July 25) in front of a 6,000 plus crowd at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Toy clinched his second victory of the season by edging reigning division champion Tom Landreth of Alta Loma at the finish line by 0.110 of a second. Landreth’s second place finish was his highest of the season so far. Darren Amidon of Santee, winner of the last Legends race on July 11th, finished third. With the victory Toy regained the division points lead from Reed who finished fifth.

King Taco Super Trucks

Division points leader Pat Mintey Jr. of Quartz Hill started from the front row and led the entire race winning the King Taco Super Trucks 40-lap feature race Saturday night (July 25) in front of a 6,000 plus crowd at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale.. Mintey was challenged by Jeff Peterson of Riverside when the leaders encountered lapped traffic during the final laps of the race. Peterson finished second, 0.199 of a second behind the winner with his father Ron Peterson finishing third.

Auto Club Late Models

Mike Johnson of Covina took over the lead from rookie Dallas Colodny of Reno, NV on lap 11 and led the remainder of the race winning the NASCAR Auto Club Late Model 40-lap feature race in front of a 6,000 plus crowd at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Colodny’s second place finish was his best of the season while his High Point Racing teammate Beau Debard of Reno, NV finished third. Johnson’s victory snapped Tim Huddleston’s two race win streak. Entering the race, Huddleston and Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills were tied for first place in the division championship point standings. Huddleston and Joanides finished 5th and 6th respectively in the race giving Huddleston sole possession of first place with a two lead over Joanides.

Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8s

Reigning division champion Steve Stewart of Long Beach won the Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8 20-lap feature race Saturday night (July 25) in front of a 6,000 plus crowd at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Stewart’s victory was his third win in the last four races. Rod Proctor of Riverside finished second and Billy Ziemann of Bloomington, who is second in the point standings, finished third.
