This past Saturday was a great race for rookie Dallas Colodny. Colodny, a Reno Nevada resident, started the race from the pole position, and lead the field of NASCAR Auto Club Late Models at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Ca., for the first ten laps of the feature race. On Lap 11 Mike Johnson passed Colodny. But that was not the end of the story. For the next 28 laps Dallas had to fight off the front running pack of aggressive drivers in the 3rd through 5th position as each one unsuccessfully tried to overtake Colodny. Keeping a cool head, Colodny was able to hold off the challengers and maintain his second position for the rest of the race, achieving a 2nd place finish, his best so far this year. Colodny again has maintained his Rookie of the Year status, increasing his lead to 40 points and is now only 4 points out of 4th place (out of 44 total competitors) overall for the season. With six races to go, a Championship is still in the cards.
Colodny will have his Justice Brothers, ExtremeWrench.com, Kohn Colodny CPA's race car on display at Summit Racing in Sparks Nevada on August 4th and 6th, during Reno's Hot August Nights event.
Colodny is a Broadcast Journalism major at the University of Nevada Reno.
