Continuing to roll through the summer months, sprint car pilot Tyler Thomas is compiling an impressive list of podium results. After going six races in a row without finishing outside the top three, Thomas would travel to two different tracks this past weekend in the hopes for a victory.

Competing in Claremore, Oklahoma, Thomas had a good starting spot draw for the heat race as he would line up outside the front row. Hot laps practice would prove to his competitors that Thomas would be the man to beat as he was one of the quickest cars throughout the session. Taking the lead from the drop of the green flag, the Oklahoma resident won his heat race in dominating fashion and would have a direct transfer to the main event.

With starting positions based on heat race results and passing points, Thomas would line up outside row three for the start of the feature race. A disappointing start would see the talented driver fall back to eighth by the end of lap one as he would have to work hard to move forward. Picking off drivers one-by-one, Thomas began to move through the field at a rapid pace and by lap six would take the point. A series of multiple yellow flags and restarts would be a test for the young gun, but Thomas overcame the pressure and showed his dominance as he drove to the victory.

“I finally ended my string of second place results,” stated Thomas after the event was complete. “I needed this win. It is a good boost for our team heading into the coming week’s events.”

Port City Raceway’s Saturday night event would be a tougher one for Thomas. With starting positions based on previous events point average, Thomas would start at the tail of the field for the heat race with the second best average this season. Starting eighth, Thomas would use the high banked bullring style track to his advantage moving forward five places to finish third, locking himself into the feature event.

With a field full of twenty cars, the rookie pilot would line up fourteenth and would look to move forward throughout the twenty lap event. With only two cautions, Thomas moved forward quickly and was in the third position when the white flag flew with another podium result at his grasps. Exiting turns three and four on the final lap, Thomas and another competitor tangled, causing Thomas to spin off the racing surface only a few hundred yards from the finish. He would eventually be classified fourteenth.

With little time off, Tyler Thomas and Tyler Thomas Motorsports will be traveling to I-44 Speedway in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma this weekend for the Minisprint Nationals.
