PERRIS, California — Enough is enough! Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian has heard enough and has addressed a swirling rumor about the track being turned into an Off-Road Racing only facility in 2010.
“I am not sure when this rumor got started, but it has picked up steam and gotten way out of control,” Kazarian said while holding court in the track’s press box at last Saturday’s PASSCAR event. “The rumor goes that we will be leasing or selling the track to an Off Road party and oval track racing will seize as the facility will become a full time Off Road Racing venue. Not sure who started the rumor or why, but let me assure everybody, it is absolutely not true. Like they are today, Sprint Cars, Stocks Cars, Motorcycles and Off Road Racing are all part of the future at Perris Auto Speedway.”
“Sanctioning bodies can come in and lease the facility for their events. That is happening when the Traxxas/Torc Off Road Series comes in on the last weekend in September. However, nobody is taking over the facility and turning it into an Off-Road only track,” Kazarian said while shaking his head. “We are looking forward to the future which will continue to see all of our oval shows. That is what we are known for now and will continue to be known for in the future.”
Oval track racing carries on this Saturday, August 1st, when the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, Jr. Focus Midgets and WRA Vintage Cars race at the Riverside County clay oval. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with the first race at 7:00.

Perris Auto Speedway is on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit on the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.
