LINCOLN, California — Tony Hunt used a fifth place finish at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, UT to move into sixth in the 2009 USAC Western States Sprint Car Series standings. This Saturday, the series returns to Hunt’s home track of All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
Hunt picked up his first win of the 2009 season at Roseville on June 27 in a 100 lap feature at Roseville. The win was also the first ever win for the new spec motor option in USAC Western Sprint Car racing.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to All American Speedway,” Hunt said. “Our team is still showing strength from our 100 lap victory in June. We’re continuing to make progress on the spec motor and remain encouraged about its future.”
Not only has the spec engine produced strong finishes, it has also yielded great qualifying efforts for the five-time championship driver.
Hunt has had qualifying efforts of first, first, fifth, second, and eighth so far in the first five races.
Saturday’s events at All American Speedway will be just the fifth round of the twelve round series. Hunt will be competing in three races in the month of September, and a pair of races in October before the season finale on Thanksgiving at Irwindale.
“We’re making a steady progress back up the points ladder,” Hunt said. “I am anxious for the month of August and our return to the central valley tracks we excel at.”
Grandstands open at 4 p.m. on Saturday night with racing starting at 6. All American Speedway is located at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville, Calif.
