PAT LONG FASTEST IN NASCAR WEST SERIES PRACTICE AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

THOUSAND OAKS, California — Patrick Long in only his second time competing in the NASCAR Camping World West Series turned the quickest times in both of the two practice sessions at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

The last time we saw Long competing he was caught up in some last lap hard racing and although he won the race, he was immediately penalized by NASCAR for making contact with the car of Joey Logano. Will be fun to see if he can “win” again… and this time have it stick.

But Long’s teammate and current point’s leader Jason Bowles was also fast as was Bowles rival and fiercest competitor Eric Holmes. Last race at Portland these two made a little contact, keeping both of them out of any chance of the win.

Then there is David Mayhew. He has been upfront race after race and was peddling the car to beat at Portland until a little spin and lack of fuel pushed him from the front to the back in no a matter of a lap.

And how about Brian Wong? He has proven his fast run at Infineon Raceway was no fluke…as he led laps and Portland and finished on the podium.

Then how could we help but think about Greg Pursley…the man that appeared to be the race winner at Portland until he slid the car in turn-12 and relinquished the lead to another strong road course racer and winner of Portland International Speedway, Jim Inglebright.

But we can’t stop there. What about Todd Souza? Moses Smith, Kyle Kelly? Jim Warn? Darryl Harr?

The thing about these road courses is it is anybodies game… and maybe at Miller Motorsports Park it will be a first-time winner or one of the dark horses.

To find out tune in to RacingWest’s Near Live coverage starting at 12:45 MT or 11:45 PT. The field will be set by the European style time trials that take place at 10AM MT or 9AM PT.
