TOOLE, Utah — Sports car racer Patrick Long won the Miller Motorsports Park 125 NASCAR Camping World Series West race at Miller Motorsports Park but the West regulars made him work.
Long won the pole, then gave up the lead three times before leading the final 22 laps. He beat runnerup Paulie Harraka by five seconds. The winner averaged 70.948 mph for the race distance.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for both the Camping World Series West and East, as well as for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The bias-ply tires provided for all three series must cover applications ranging from the 3.06-mile, 14-turn road course at Miller to the 1/3-mile oval at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that the Canadan Tire Series competed on over the weekend.
Jason Bowles finished third in the West race, followed by Greg Pursley and Moses Smith. Smith, like Long, has an extensive road racing background. But Smith is a West series regular.
There were eight lead changes in front of the 26-car starting field. Long’s pole-winning lap averaged 116.56 mph.
Bowles leads the championship hunt with 1,694 points. Eric Holmes is second with 1,638.
