STOCKTON, California — The SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour Series has seen a new track record set at Stockton 99 Speedway by M.K. Kanke, from Frazier Park, California. He managed to finesse his #33 Sims Trucking/RPM-PSI Motorsports Chevrolet around the track with a time of 13.084 seconds shattering the track record held previously by Nathan Tucker, who set the record back in 2002.

Second fast was #3 Troy Ermish, 13.129, followed by #2 Craig Raudman, 13.171, #4 Greg Voigt, 13.177 and the #7 of Josh Combs, 13.183 who rounds out the top-5. A total of 19 cars will start tonight’s Don Cotti Memorial 99.

There was a four car invert for tonight’s event so Voigt will start on the pole with Raudman starting on his outside.

Qualifying started out with Todd Bammer going out first and grabbing quick-time early in the event with a time of 13.274 Seconds. He held fast time for the first 8 qualifiers, eventually ending up in the 6th position at the end of qualifying.

Bammer held the top spot until the #7 of Combs, who was the fastest in the first practice session took that title with a time of 13.183. Combs fast time was short lived however, as the next qualifier out, #2 Raudman, posted a time of 13.171, the fastest lap any car had circled the 1/4-mile facility all day.

The #3 of Troy Ermish, who had practiced in the 4th fast during practice, held the fast time, almost immediately after Raudman had qualified. Thing were looking good for Ermish as he was able to hold off a challenge by Greg Voight, the fastest car in the second practice round earlier in the day.

But in the end Kanke showed his might, by smashing the previous track record and letting the field know he will be a tough competitor for tonight’s 99 lap main event. If you live in the Stockton area please come out to the track, it will be an exciting event, we guarantee it.
