Backing up his 2nd place finish on July 25th, Dallas Colodny finished in 2nd place again at the NASCAR Auto Club Late Model race at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday, August 8th. Starting in the 4th position, Dallas immediately took over the 2nd place spot and worked to chase down the leader. On the last lap of the race as the leaders were coming into turn 3, a car that was about to be lapped, spun in front of the leaders in a cloud of tire smoke, the race leader slowed and Dallas took a chance and dove below the leader to try to take the lead, unfortunately the race officials called a caution and the field had to regroup and line up for a green, white, checker, restart. Dallas was able to keep the 2nd place position after the restart and finished in 2nd at the end of the race.
This was a great finish for the busy week that led up to the race, it included Dallas exhibiting his race car at Summit Racing in Sparks during Hot August Nights, with the help of the Nevada Highway Patrol and two Patrol cars, interviews with the Reno Gazette Journal and News Channel 4 KRNV Reno. Thank you to Summit Racing, the NHP, the RGJ and KRNV.
With five races left in the season, Dallas is in fifth place out of 46 competitors, just 2 points out of 4th place. He is still leading in the Rookie of the Year points.
Dallas Colodny is a Broadcast Journalism major at the University of Nevada Reno.
