CLOCE TO THE TOP IN THE JOE GIBBS DRIVEN RACING OIL ASA MEMBER TRACK STANDINGS

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — This will not be a surprise and expect it to change over the next several weeks, but there is a new driver at the top of the standings for the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship. Tommy Cloce of Adirondack International Speedway in New Bremen, NY jumped to the top of the standings after a second place and win in their double features last Saturday night.

Cloce is a familiar name in the ASA Member Track National Championship as he was also a frontrunner in last year’s title chase. The Canton, NY driver has a point average of 3.3877 going into this weekend’s racing action at Adirondack. He currently has a 90-point lead over Andre Roggie. So far this season he has eight wins, 13 top-five and 13 top-ten finishes in 13 starts. This weekend, he will hit the magic number of 14 starts to record an accurate point average towards the National Championship.

“This is what I call excitement,” Dennis Huth, ASA President exclaimed. “We have competitors like Tommy Cloce who are reaching that 14-race plateau and look what is happening, he is moving to the top. This is just the start of a lot of drivers shuffling positions in the standings. Just wait, it will get interesting.”

Jeremy Miller remains in second with an average of 3.2127 as he will get ready to retain his points lead at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI. On Friday night, he will be competing in the makeup Big 8 Series event from June 30th and will then return to compete in the weekly ASA Member Track action at Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile Oval.

Jeff Mathews is in third with an average of 3.0672. Eastbay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL will be back in action on Saturday, August 29th. Mathews holds a 145-point lead over Jackie Nosbisch Jr. in the standings.

Clint LaFont isn’t going away as he sits in fourth with an average of 2.9099. Last Saturday night, LaFont recorded his fourth feature win of the season. He currently holds a 36-point lead over Shawn Paul Lehman in the standings.

Make sure you visit an ASA Member Track this weekend catch the excitement as the chase for the track championship and the ASA Member Track National Championship heats up.
