The NASCAR Auto Club Late Models had a wild night at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale this past Saturday. Through it all, Dallas Colodny earned a 4th place finish at the end of the race. After qualifying 5th fast, the race started with Dallas on the inside of row 3. The top six cars diced it up repeatedly lap after lap, with numerous race cars earning a "Darlington Stripe " against the outside wall. After the 1st ten laps, carnage erupted with cars upfront and in the mid-pack colliding.
In the midst of mayhem, Dallas was able to keep it clean, dropping back to the 8th position at one point to avoid an accident, he was able to work back up to 4th, when again, at the end of the race, he had to dive low to the infield grass to avoid another accident, he was still able to gather it up and finish in 4th.
With 4 races to go, Dallas has improved his lead in the Rookie of the Year points to 76 points. He is still in 5th place in the overall points standings, out of 46 competitors. The next race is on September 5th. Dallas is a Broadcast Journalism major at the University of Nevada, Reno.
