SONOMA, California — IndyCar® Series driver Nelson Philippe has been released from Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital following a crash during last weekend’s Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway.

Philippe (Conquest Racing) suffered a concussion and open fracture of his left foot as a result of an accident at Turn 3A with Penske Racing driver Will Power during practice last Saturday.

Philippe underwent surgery to have the foot fracture washed out and repaired. After further examination, it was found that Philippe also suffered a hairline fracture of his right fibula and he was fitted with a brace. Philippe is back at his home in Miami.

Power, who remains at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, has at least two compression fractures in his lower back, and also suffered damage to two teeth. Power's back has been fitted for a brace, and he is expected to be transported to Indianapolis for further treatment in the next few days.
