WARN THRILLED FOR IOWA RETURN

AURORA, Oregon — Jim Warn from Aurora, Oregon and driver of the GPI Performance.com Chevrolet in the NASCAR Camping World Series-West is thrilled to return to Iowa Speedway this weekend for the running of the Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades “125” at the 7/8-mile paved oval in Newton, Iowa. Warn is coming off a career best finish of second two weeks ago at Colorado and will debut a brand new car for the Iowa race.

In Warn’s last visit to Iowa Speedway back in May he finished seventh among the competitors in the West series in the annual combination event and is looking for even greater success this time out. “I love racing at Iowa, “Warn said. “It is one of the finest tracks around and to be able race here twice this year is awesome. The entire staff at Iowa makes us feel welcome and the fans have been fantastic. We feel we have a really good car for the race and I cannot wait to get on track.”

While Warn has experienced the ups and downs of racing in the NCWS, he is very optimistic about this race and the rest of the season. “We had some mechanical issues this year but we are so much more competitive,” Warn offered. “Roger Bracken and the crew have been great on the race weekends and it really showed at Colorado. We have a new car for the race this weekend that was purposely built for the series by Kevin Harvick and we feel we have a great shot at the top spot.”

Momentum is such a big deal in motorsports and success breeds success. Warn is coming off his career best finish of second and would like nothing more than to carry that momentum forward. “Colorado was a blast,” Warn said. “We had a really good car and it was great to battle it out with Paulie (Harraka- race winner) over the final laps. We have a lot of confidence heading to Iowa and I would love nothing more than to get my first win at Iowa Speedway.”

Warn is currently in the ninth position in the point standings after eleven races, 170-points behind eighth place and 277 points out of the fifth position. In eleven starts this season the 26 year old competitor has five top ten finishes with a best finish of 2nd at Colorado two weeks ago.

Warn drives for MJ2 Racing and is sponsored by GPI Performance.Com. The car is powered by a Chevrolet NASCAR Spec Engine built by Brad “Freight Train” Peters and sits atop a Hopkins chassis. Warn is in his second year of competition in the NCWS with nine top ten finishes in 24 career NCWS starts with a career best finish of second.

The Toyota/NAPA “150” at Iowa Speedway is round twelve of the 13-race NASCAR Camping World Series-West schedule for 2009. 2009 is the 56th year of competition for the NASCAR Camping World Series-West and the event this weekend will be the second appearance by the series at the 7/8-mile marquee oval. The race at Iowa will be televised Thursday, September 10 at 12noon PT on SPEED Channel.
