Joanides Clinches Second Consecutive NASCAR ACDelco Super Late Model Division Champion at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale

Nick Joanides clinched his second consecutive NASCAR ACDelco Super Late Model division championship, TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale’s premiere division. Joanides of Woodland Hills also clinched the NASCAR California State Championship and finished third in the NASCAR Whelen All-American National Championship standings.

ACDelco Super Late Model Twin races

Race #1

Rip Michels of San Fernando took the lead from Travis Thirkettle of Newhall on lap 38 and went on to win the first race of the 40-lap NASCAR ACDelco Super Late Model twin bill Saturday night (September 12) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. The victory was Michel’s 60th at the Speedway. Thirkettle finished second, 0.266 of a second behind Michels. Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills finished in 5th place clinching his second consecutive division championship and the NASCAR California State Championship. In the second race Travis Thirkettle notched his first victory of the season while Joanides finished in second place.

Jan’s Towing Bandoleros Twin races

Points leader Ryan Cansdale of Laguna Beach swept the Jan’s Towing 20-lap feature race twin bill Friday (September 11) and Saturday (September 12) nights at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Cansdale is also a rookie and has ten wins on the season. Aaron Anderson of Lancaster finished second in both races.

Legends Cars

Dallas Montes of Bakersfield won the Legends Cars 35-lap feature race Saturday night (September 12) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. The victory was Montes fourth victory in a row. Division championship points leader Ryan Reed of Bakersfield finished second 0.691 of a second behind the winner. Brent Scheidemantle of Alta Loma finished third.

Langers Juice S2

Randel King of Riverside won the Langers Juice S2 25-lap feature race Saturday night (September 12) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. The victory was King’s fourth of the season. Ryan Reed of Bakersfield finished second and Kendell Lopez of Independence, Missouri finished third.

Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8s

Barefoot Billy Ziemann of Bloomington won the Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8 20-lap feature race Saturday night (September 12) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. The win was Ziemann’s third of the season. Division championship points leader Steve Stewart of Long Beach finished second and Tony Curtis of Hawthorne finished third.

Demolition Derby

Ken Metts of Sun City won the Demolition Derby competition Saturday night (September 12) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Justin Stress of Mission Hills finished second and Bill Thiebert of Westminster finished third.
