WENATCHEE, Washington — Garrett Evans (E.Wenatchee, WA) took the lead of the iRacing.com American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour Wenatchee 125 on lap 33 and was in control for the remainder of the race. Brent Harris (E. Wenatchee, WA) tried again and again on restarts to get around Evans and settled for second. Third place went to Kelly Mann (Monroe, WA).
Evans was able on each double restart, of the 125-lap main on the high banked .250-mile oval at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval, to hold back Harris’ attempts at the lead. Within a few laps Evans was back out to a strong lead. Evans started his second race with the series and has two wins both at WVSO.
Harris climbed to within one point of Gary Lewis (Snohomish, WA) for the 2009 iRacing.com ASA NWLMT championship chase. Lewis struggled to finish sixth and heads to the season last race next weekend at Yakima Speedway.
The Port City Racecars ‘Rookie Challenge’ winner will be decided at the final race with Joey Tanner (Portland, OR) and Alan Cress (Albany, OR) tied. Tanner was the fast qualifier for the race but suffered damage in an incident on track that forced an early retirement.
Next up for the iRacing.com ASA Northwest Late Model Tour is the championship Better All Auto Sales 150 at Yakima Speedway on Saturday September 19. The fabled .500-mile oval will decide many a points’ battle in the top fifteen positions and the rookie of the year.
