ANTELOPE, Ca — Reporting on NASCAR racing trackside and pit area can be an exciting assignment, and the regulars get to know the drivers firsthand. On September 26, nine well-known television and radio celebrities of the Sacramento market will actually climb through the window of a NASCAR Late Model race car, take the wheel, and compete in a 20-lap race at the All American Speedway in Roseville.

The A-All Mini Storage Media Blitz 100, presented by Comcast, will be held as one of the feature events at the NASCAR Toyota/Copart 150, championship race for the Camping World Series West. The 20-lap race will celebrate the City of Roseville’s 100th birthday in 2009. Bill McAnally Racing is providing Late Model Stock Car Toyota Camrys for the event.

The winning driver will donate his $1,000 earnings to the charity of his choice. Driving for NBC/KCRA #3 is reporter Brian Hickey; for CBS/KOVR #13 is evening weather anchor Dave Bender with co-pilot CBS News anchor/reporter Brandi Hitt; for Good Day Sacramento #31 is Co Host Mark S Allen; for KTXL Fox 40 #40 is sportscaster Mark Demsky with co-pilot Fox 40 Live anchor Natalie Bomke; for 101.9 # 101.9 The Wolf is morning show personality Dave Kelly with co-pilot Susan Brown; and for KFBK # 1, 1530 is reporter Bob Moffitt.

Drivers selected for the event have varying degrees of experience – some have go-kart experience, a few have taken professional race car driving courses, and some just like to drive fast. Brian Hickey’s father was a Late Model Stock Car driver and he spent much of his youth at the Silver State Raceway in Carson City doing whatever they would allow him to do, or in the garage working on race cars. Dave Bender also shares his NASCAR passion with his Dad and has taken the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Natalie Bomke got her own Go-Kart as a kid and raced with her brother every chance she got!

At yesterday’s first practice and safety training the rookie drivers, in full custom fitted firesuits, ignored the 100 degree temperatures, and strode around their decaled cars grinning from ear-to-ear. Professional drivers were on hand to demonstrate and instruct as they took their first laps. USAC champion Tony Hunt, NASCAR champ Bill McAnally, Jason Romero, and Mike Mansch were among the pros happy to share their sport with the amateurs.

The media celebrities will be put through a thorough safety course and coached during practice sessions on the track. Fans are invited to the track testing and practice on September 18 where grandstand seating is free from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. There is an autograph session following practice, and Fuddruckers hamburgers and NOS Energy Drink for the first 150 spectators.

This is the second year Roseville’s All American Speedway will host the final race of the NASCAR Camping World Series West, determining the 2009 series champion. The Toyota Copart 150 will be the feature event of the action-packed race day on September 26. Fans will also be treated to the Riebes Auto Parts USAC 100 featuring the Western Sprint Cars division, and USAC Midgets.
