VENTURA, California — One of Ventura Raceway’s wildest attractions returns to the track Saturday when motorcycles and quads compete in flat track and motocross competition.
The Sept. 19 program will be the third of its kind this season and the events have been so popular among the riders that two extra classes have been added to the program, bringing to 18 the number classes available for entry. The first two events of the season averaged more than 130 entries.
“We’ll have a little bit of everything,” admitted Raceway promoter Jim Naylor. “Motorcycles, quads, flat track oval racing and motocross. We work very hard to make these races popular with the riders and we’ve been rewarded some terrific racing.”
The centerpiece of the event, the Ventura Moto, will be carved out of the area that is normally the infield of the racing oval. The Moto is challenging for the riders and provides some of the best entertainment of the season for Ventura’s fans.
“The first time we did this was 18 years ago and they have always been popular,” said Raceway promoter Jim Naylor. “We have to start the racing a little earlier this week because of all the entries we expect.”
The racing starts at 5 p.m. General admission tickets cost $18, senior citizen and military tickets cost $15 and kids 12 and under get in free.
