SONOMA, California — The Sonoma Valley will be the place to be on Father’s Day, 2010, as Infineon Raceway hosts the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend, June 18-20.
For the second consecutive year, the race will fall on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20. Kasey Kahne (Budweiser Dodge) took the checkers in the Sonoma Valley this past June, becoming the fifth different driver in five years to reach the Wine Country Winner’s Circle.
It was one of the most memorable road-course races in recent memory, with Kahne and Tony Stewart (Office Depot Chevrolet) battling through several double-file restarts over the final 15 laps.
Kahne emerged victorious by just 0.748 seconds, enabling team owner Richard Petty to reach the Winner’s Circle for the first time since 1999. Both Petty and Kahne celebrated with a sip of cabernet from the Champion’s Wine Goblet.
This will also mark the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ only visit to Northern California in 2010, as well as the series’ 22nd consecutive visit to the Sonoma Valley. The weekend will also feature some familiar staples, including an exciting 25-minute air show during pre-event ceremonies on Sunday, June 20.
The weekend will also again feature the NASCAR Camping World Series West 200 on Saturday, with Jason Bowles serving as the two-time defending champion. Bowles is the first two-time defending West Series champion in Sonoma since Butch Gilliland (1996-1997).
