Roseville. California - The All American Speedway would like to congratulate our 2009 Divisional Champions:
Late Models: Jason Romero (#8) of Cameron Park
Modifieds: Jarred Beddow (#50) of Roseville
Street Stocks: Christopher Lambert (#50) of Loomis
Bombers: Adam Chapman (#01) of Citrus Heights
Here’s how it all went down!
Romero came into the night with a 70 point lead over his nearest competitor Orangevale’s Gary Glenn (#50). There are two Twin 44’s scheduled with approximately 80+ points up for grabs depending on car count. There will be 2 points per car to take the green and 5 bonus points for a win in each race.
Twin 50 #1
Twenty-two cars would take the Green. That’s 49 points for a win. As the fastest qualifier, Romero would be inverted back to fourth putting Sacramento’s Jonathan Mawhinney (#17) on the pole with Pine Grove’s Rookie Matt Scott (#35) outside Row 1. The second row was made up of Galt’s Juan Pitta (#16) and Romero. Row 3 is Carson City’s Bobby Hodges (#88) and Glenn.
Green! Green! Green!
Mawhinney leads early and looks strong. This may be his best shot at his first win of the season. Romero goes around Pitta for third on Lap 1. Scott is watching everything go down from second. Glen picks up two positions on Lap 6 moving from sixth to fourth and coming. Scott battles Mawhinney up front and makes the pass for the lead on Lap 11. At the halfway point of the race its Scott, Mawhinney, Romero, Glenn, and Hodges.
A little further back, a great race is going on between Jarred Beddow (#50X), John Moore (#27), and Juan Pitta. David Husley started 17th and is up to 11th. Dana Pruhs is the Hard Charger starting 19th and getting to 10th. But laps are winding down in this one.
Glenn and Hodges go around Romero for third and fourth on Lap 36. Pitta makes the pass on him on the next lap and Romero is going backwards. He would fall out of the top five on the next lap with five to go.
Scott is just too good in clean air and goes on to win his third Feature in his rookie season. Results were not available at press time as to who will win the Rookie of the Year award. Scott battle Manteca’s Jake Gomes for that title.
Mawhinney finishes second to Scott in this first Twin 44. There is still one more race to go to end his winless streak on the year. Second is great but he is hungry for a win.
Glenn crosses the stripe third and picks up 20 points on Romero who finished 13th in this one. Glenn admittedly struggled in the beginning of the season but came on strong in the second half. However, Glenn would need 50 points in Twin #2 to win the Championship. It would all come down to how many cars would start the second race.
Bobby Hodges is fourth for his efforts. He has a very good car but is it enough to win Race #2. It’ll depend on his starting position.
Beddow, who was driving in three different divisions on the night, comes home fifth.

Modifieds
Here’s the only Division where the Champ is determined before the race even starts. Your ’09 AAS Champion is Roseville’s Jarred Beddow (#50).
Rio Linda’s Rich Lindgren (#27) is back for the last race having run a limited schedule this season. He will start from the pole with Hayward’s Rookie sensation Jessica Brunelli (#3) on his outside. Beddow will start third in this one with Rio Linda’s Mikey Lehman (#96) outside.
Let’s do this!
Lindgren solid up front with Brunelli in tow. Good battle a little further back in the field between Roseville’s Scotty Woessner (#16) and Josh Reaume (#7) for fifth. Beddow gets around Brunelli for the second spot on lap 9.
Beddow makes a solid pass for the lead on Lindgren on Lap 15 which would prove to be the move of the race. In a Feature not without its share of cautions, a Yellow/Checker Flag was thrown on Lap 20 giving Beddow the win. Lindgren crosses second. He may have had something for Beddow had the race gone longer. Brunelli is third tonight. She has opened a lot of eyes in her rookie campaign at AAS. After a win three weeks ago, Mikey Lehman crosses the stripe fourth. He has really come on strong as of late. Visiting driver Redding’s Guy Young (#7X), in his first appearance at AAS, rounds out the top five.

Street Stocks
The story here sets up like this. Elverta’s Mickey Owens is the defending ’08 Champ and his points lead is 15 over Loomis’ Christopher Lambert (#50). Lambert would need to finish the race at least 8 positions ahead of Owens for any shot at the title. Eighteen cars would take the green.
With the invert and much to the dismay of Lambert, Owens would start the 30 Lap Feature from the pole. Roseville’s Roy Smith would start on his outside. Lambert would start fifth.
Green Flag!
Smith gets around Owens to lead the first lap. Lambert is up to third and charging. On Lap 4, Owens off Turn 4 goes flying through the infield grass and comes to a halt just before coming back onto the track in Turn 2 and bringing out the caution. His night is over and so is any chance of repeating as Champ.
The race goes on. Lambert up to second with Smith your leader. Galt’s Bryan Tomeraason (#80) has a car capable of winning. He falls in behind Lambert as they chase the leader Smith. Sacramento’s Kevin Owens (#21) begins to show hope of contending. He started seventh and is now up to fourth. Sacramento’s Spencer Emerson (#6) is strong and runs fifth. No change up front as we reach the halfway mark of the race.
Lap 17 sees Kevin Owens get around Tomeraason for the third spot. Orangevale’s Casey Cavender (#03) would squeak past Emerson for the fifth spot on the last lap and that’s how this one would finish.
Roy Smith plays spoiler once again and chalks up another win. For running a limited schedule, his season results are unmatched. He winds up the season fifth in points having run less than half of the races.
Lambert crosses the stripe second but in so doing, brings home his very first Championship. Though sure he would have liked to have raced Owens down to the very
lap, he has earned the title. His season was filled with the highs and lows that test the heart of a true Champion. He is a race car driver down to his bones and a gentleman.
Christopher Lambert is the ’09 AAS Street Stock Champion!
Kevin Owens is third for his efforts on the night and on the season. He finishes 69 points off the top. At one point in the season it looked as though Owens might win it all. This will only add to his motivation foe 2010.
Bryan Tomeraason crosses the stripe fourth on the night. Tomeraason came on the strong the second half of the season and will finish 6th in points (-139).
Casey Cavender comes home fifth. Casey has not been without his share of misfortune this season. Through his struggles, he manages to finish fourth in the points (-88).

Bombers
Here’s the story… Citrus Heights’ Adam Chapman (#01) leads Roseville’s Erick Ray (#77) by just three points coming into the final race of the season. Either of these two racers would make a fine Champion. The question here is who wants it more?
Roseville’s Richard Perez (#50) and Cody Rickard (#24) would start from the front row. Chapman and Rocklin’s Eric Bocksberger (#23) fill Row 2. Erick Ray starts fifth with David Thompson on his outside.
Thirty laps to determine the winner… Let’s Go Racin’!
Rickard grabs the lead on Lap 2 and keeps it till Perez goes back around on Lap 5. Chapman is content to ride around in third for a while and watch the other two battle it out. Perez spins on Lap 20 and Rickard and Chapman move up a spot each. Perez will restart from the tail end of the longest line.
Lap 21 sees Chapman around Rickard for the lead with Ray getting by Bocksberger for third. With nine laps left, Chapman can taste it now. If he can only hold off Rickard. Rickard gave him everything he had but it wasn’t enough on this night. Adam Chapman goes on for the victory and in so doing wins the ’09 AAS Bomber Championship. Adam is a very unassuming young man who, when behind the wheel, is all business. He will be an excellent representative of the All American Speedway as our Champion. Congratulations!
Rickard finishes second to the Champ. The seat time he has racked up this year will pay off in dividends in the ’10 season.
Erick Ray finishes third for his efforts. He gave all to win the Championship and came up just a little bit short (2nd/-7 points). He is now armed with the information and experience it takes to win a title and will be even more dangerous next season.
Fourth was Eric Bocksberger. Bock’s still manages to finish third in the points (-47) in spite of taking a couple of weekends off this year. When his car is right, he is a force to be reckoned with in any race.
Perez comes from all the way in the back to finish fifth. Perez ends the season fourth in points (-59). Richard has had his share of frustrations this season but will be a better man for it when the ’10 season rolls around.
6 37 David Thompson 30 (Laps)
7 30 Steve Runkle 30 (Laps)
8 55 Ray Stafford 30 (Laps)

Late Model Twin 44 #2
After the smoke had cleared from Twin #1, here how thing shook out. Glenn would need 50 points to surpass Romero at the top. Only twenty cars would start Twin #2 so 40 points available and 5 for a win. Glenn would have to win and let the rest play out as it may.
Winner of Twin #1 would spin for the invert for Twin #2 and put himself on the pole. Mawhinney would start on the outside of Row 1. Glen and Hodges would make up Row 2. Romero would start 13th and have his work cut out for him. Ohhhhh the drama!
Buckle up and let’s go Racin!
Mawhinney is the leader at the stripe on Lap 1. Does he have the car to hold on? Glenn sees an opportunity on Lap 6 for second and takes it. Pitta started 5th and is up to fourth as the field mixes it up. Hodges runs 5th.
Glenn begins to press on Mawhinney for the lead. On Lap 23 both Glenn and Scott go around Mawhinney after a spin. With brake rotors aglow, Glenn begins to pull away from the field. He knows what he has to do! Romero is coming but he’s running out of laps. Romero is 8th on Lap 30. Seventh by Lap 39. Fourth on Lap 42. Third on Lap 43… out of time!
Glenn wins but Romero comes home third. Glenn will come up 46 points short in the chase. Your ’09 All American Speedway Late Model Champion is Jason Romero. Romero is the real deal and has earned this Championship in just his sophomore campaign. His team has given him awesome equipment each week and he has matured as a driver. The future is bright for this young man.
Salt Lake City’s Mike Self (#84) has his best finish of the season crossing the line second. This was his most impressive run to date. Nicely done!
Mawhinney completes the 44 laps fourth. Not the result he was looking for. What a great run for Ken Benhamou (#22). Ken came into the season at AAS late and in the final race of the season has earned the respect of his fellow drivers with this finish. Good Job!
