ASA NWLMT CHAMPIONSHIP RACE AT YAKIMA SPEEDWAY

MARYSVILLE, Wa — September 17, 2009): The iRacing.com American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour 2009 champion will be crowned on Saturday September 19 at Yakima Speedway in Yakima Washington. Gary Lewis (Snohomish, WA) and Brent Harris (E. Wenatchee, WA) are locked into a tight battle for the distinction of being the 2009 series champion. The Port City Racecars ‘Rookie Challenge’ has also come down to the last race of the season to decide it’s winner. Rookies Alan Cress (Albany, OR) and Joey Tanner (Portland, OR) are just a few points apart.

The Better All Auto Sales / Better-Haul Auto Transport & First Class Auto Sales Championship 150 on the .500-mile oval has drawn the Northwest’s best Super Late Model Stock Car Drivers to the fabled central Washington track for the ASA NWLMT season finale. The entry list is full of former Tour Champions, Late Model Challenge Series Champions and individual Northwest Track’s Late Model Champions. They are all gathered to be a part of the history making event.

The season’s ASA NWLMT champion will be the first under the new combined series. The former 10-year old Late Model Challenge Series and the 25-year old Northwest Tour merged in the off season to form what is now the Northwest’s only super late model traveling series.

The two championships are both within 2-points. That represents one position in the race. The many fans expected for this record setting race will be busy watching Lewis and Harris for the series championship and the rookies Cress and Tanner for the coveted rookie champion. They will also be watching the best racers in a battle to see who wins the race and the $3000.00 winner’s portion of the purse.

In addition to all this there is another bragging rights issue that will be solved. The race is the annual Engine Builders Challenge. Many of the Northwest’s best race car engine builders are participating with a bonus if their engine wins the 150-lap championship feature.

The new era in ‘Super Late Model Stock Car Racing’ championship race begins with the all important qualifying at 5:30 and the racing gets its start at 7:00pm on Saturday night September 19, 2009 at Yakima Speedway in Yakima, WA.
