PERRIS, California — The first two entries for the November 5th, 6th and 7th 14th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway crossed promoter Don Kazarian’s desk on Wednesday morning and they came from Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises. The NASCAR Sprint Cup superstar entered cars for Olney, Illinois’ Levi Jones and Tracy Hines of New Castle, Indiana. Chevrolet and Bass Pro Shops sponsor the two-car team.
Jones, 26, won the USAC National Sprint Car championship in 2005 and 2007. He is currently seeking his third USAC National Championship in the last five years and leads two-time Oval Nationals champion Dave Darland by 25 points. Jones also ranks fourth in the 2009 Silver Crown standings and 11th in the National Midget standings.
Like Jones, Hines, 36, has a pair of USAC National Championship trophies adorning his home. He won the 2002 USAC National Sprint Car Championship and the 2000 Silver Crown title. Hines currently sits fifth in the USAC National Sprint Car Series, 6th in the National Midget standings and third in the Silver Crown chase.
Kazarian announced that the popular Southern California band Unit 287 will once again be performing at The PAS on the final night of the Oval Nationals.
