NASCAR Auto Club Late Model rookie Dallas Colodny maintained his Rookie of the Year Status after a frustrating night at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale this past weekend. After qualifying 4th, Dallas was running in 3rd place through most of the 1st race on a night of Double Header racing. After a caution was thrown, with 15 laps remaining, Dallas was squeezed in a racing incident where he and another driver were fighting for the same piece of real estate due to a third driver missing a shift on the restart. This caused Dallas to spin out after losing the land rush, and suffered some significant body and handling damage. He had to go to the back of the field, when the race restarted. He then worked his way forward and finished 17th for the first race of the night. The second race was almost as unlucky for Dallas as the handling was just not quite right after the limited amount of time that was allowed between races to fix the car and no testing of the repairs was permitted. Dallas finished 13th in the second race.
On a brighter note, Dallas Colodny used the evening to kick off a new Public Service program called Pop the Habit℠, a new smoking reduction campaign to encourage smokers to reduce their tobacco use by substituting lollipops for some of their cigarettes. More information on Pop the Habit℠ can be found at www.popthehabit.com. Dallas is the national spokesperson for Pop the Habit℠.
After 16 races Colodny is in 5th place overall in the series. He is also the leading rookie of the year in the NASCAR Auto Club Late Models with a 28 point lead on his nearest competitor. Colodny would like to thank High Point Racing, ExtremeWrench.com, Justice Brothers, Racecar Factory, Atlantis Casino Resort and Kohn Colodny CPA’s, and Pop the Habit, for all their support this season.
Dallas Colodny will be back in action at TS@I on October 3rd the last races of the season, it will be another night of twin main events.
