COTTAGE GROVE, Oregon — It was a very successful night for Roger Crockett of Medford last Saturday night at the Cottage Grove Speedway. Going into the night he had a points lead of one hundred forty five point lead over second place. Also entering the night the pilot of the SKS Racing #11 KPC Chassis 360 Sprint had finished on top on eleven individual times at the ¼ clay oval which also included one wingless victory and a win with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS)-Northwest Region.

The whole night began later than normal as a heavy mist blanketed the track for most of the afternoon and at one point even began raining a good amount of water. It looked as if the night would be ended until the sun finally came out and all worries of the final points race of the season were subdued.

When the night eventually started there was only time enough to run heat races and a main event. In Crockett’s heat race he was able to reel in the leader in the last couple of laps to pick up the victory.

In the main event it was a great run by the team as Crockett was able to get to the first spot in the first couple of laps and really checked out in front of the field, eventually lap all the way up to fourth place as lapped traffic was no obstacle at all. For the team it was their twelve victory of the 2009 season and their twenty-second win of the entire year. After the night was over the team could officially celebrate their track championship together. For Crockett it was his first undisputed track championship in his career as the last time he raced a track for points (Eugene Speedway in 1995) they tied for the title.

Roger Crockett and the team now head north to win another championship. This Friday and Saturday at the Yakima Dirt Track in Yakima, Washington will mark the season finale for the ASCS-Northwest Region 2009 season. Currently Crockett leads the series with most wins, at five, and is at the top of the table in the points chart with a sixty point difference between him and second place. If he could finish the weekend out with the point lead and pick up the title it would be his first series championship since 2007 which was with the Northwest Sprint Car Challenge Series.
