KALISPELL, Montana — Just six points separate Scott Dalla and Jake Bissett for the 2009 Montana Raceway Park Legends division championship as the final night of racing this season is set for Saturday night. A total of 31 points separate Dalla and fifth place driver Wrango West with qualifying, heat races and main events a premium this weekend.

Dalla and West had been running first and second in points heading into the Sept. 12 race but each driver suffered mechanical troubles in the main event that tightened the field up heading into the final race of the season.

Tyler Corpron picked up the win in the division’s last main event and holds down third place in the overall standings-just 11 markers back of Dalla and five points behind Bissett. Running second on Sept 12 was Joe Bissett who sits in fourth place overall and trails Corpron by 14 points in the battle for third place overall in the driver’s standings.

Also holding their final race of the season will be the Limited Sportsman, Hornets, Compacts, Bombers and the Hornet Enduro 50-lap championship.

Points leader Jason Robinson used a strong run in last weekend’s Limited Sportsman 25-lap main event in besting Josh Robinson (second in points) to move out to a 20-point gap on his sibling rival. Zach Mongan holds down third place in the driver’s points standings with Adam Kinkel and Chuck Swope rounding out the top-5.

Katie Pilsch extended her hold on the 2009 Hornet division points lead with a top-3 finish in last weekend’s main event. Cory Rehm and Kyle Basler round out the top-3. The best points battle in the division heading into the final weekend of racing is for the sixth position with two drivers, Tim Hatlen and Travis Cannon, knotted at 376 points and trailing fifth place Jared White by eight points.

The Compact division has Fran Rehn in front of Tim Davis by 17 points with Marvin Stone holding down the third place position. Nancy Davis trails fourth place Bill Mitchell by 18 points with one race remaining.

Jason Young rolls into this weekend’s championship race fresh off a victory over Dave Berglund (third in points) and Bill McCallum (second) in last Saturday’s 75-lap main event. Berglund’s runner-up finish closed the gap between himself and McCallum to nine points and extended his advantage over fourth place Jimmy Worsham by 24 markers.

Hobby Stock points leader, Dustin Martel, merely needs to qualify this weekend to wrap up the 2009 championship as he holds a commanding 49-point spread on second place Nick Szalay.
