COTTAGE GROVE, Oregon — It was a wild weekend for all teams that ventured to the Cottage Grove Speedway last Saturday night. When the majority of the teams arrived it was slightly misting around the facility but not enough to do any real damage. After a period of on and off precipitation a small shower rolled through after the teams had unloaded. It seemed the night would be over but the sun came out shortly after the shower even started.

The long distance Logan Forler of Orting, Washington made was definitely not worth making the trip for a rain out. Luckily the Steve Forler Trucking #2L Boyce Racing Engines/Maxim Chassis 360 Sprint Car team was able to stick it out and make their final visit of 2009 to the Cottage Grove Speedway.

Due to the weather not being completely cooperative earlier in the day the night was started off with heat race action. In the heat races passing points were given out as the line up were determined by a pill draw which took place at registration. In their heat race they did very well by leading the most laps of the event and finishing second.

In the main event Forler would start in the fourth place position and look to earn his first win of his Sprint Car career. He would get the third place position early in the race and put on a great battle for the second spot. Going in and out of lapped traffic put on an amazing spectacle as he would eventually become the first car on the lead lap.

As the checker flag flew for the feature Forler would finish third his best finish at the Cottage Grove Speedway and his ties best finish of his Sprint Car career. The team will make its final Northwest appearance as they head to the Central Washington State Fair Speedway in Yakima, Washington. It will be the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region’s final race of the season and will take place this Friday and Saturday. It will be the team’s first visit to the venue and their ninth different track that they have raced on.
